The Weekly Wild-Hearted is brought to you by:

Wild-Hearted Creative Magazine. Created and written by creatives of all disciplines like artists, poets, travelers, coaches, muses, and bloggers, to empower and inspire creatives all over the world.

Hey Wild Hearts, how often to you warm up or exercise your creative muscles?

Actionable Tip: Start with a warm-up exercise to boost creativity. It might seem a little strange but like athletes warm up before a game, creatives can benefit from exercises that get the creative juices flowing. Check out the Creative Challenge below!

Inspiration Corner: I recently heard something that had me a little bit excited: Treat every idea like an experiment. I probably generate about 10-20 idea a week that have potential to develop further.

For me hiking is my go to when I am need of change and inspiration as I allow my mind to just wonder but there is something to be said about doing some quick sketches, a little bit of free writing or just sing whatever words come to mind for 5 to 15 minutes. And sometimes a good brainstorming session will do just a trick as well.

These exercises are a fantastic idea generator and also a good way to overcome any hurdle you might be facing as you are able to distract your brain for just a little bit.

Creative Challenge: Spend 10 minutes daily on a creative warm-up. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Free Writing: Write nonstop for five minutes without worrying about grammar or structure.
  2. Sketching: Draw anything that comes to mind for five minutes.
  3. Collage: Cut out images from magazines and create a quick collage.
  4. Mind Mapping: Create a mind map of ideas related to your current project.

Resource Recommendation: Explore creative warm-up ideas from online sources. Websites like Skillshare and YouTube offer numerous tutorials and exercises designed to kickstart your creativity.

The same way you would want to warm up before any physical activity like running to avoid injury, warming up your creative muscles can make a big difference in your enjoyment of your craft and help you be productive. Try different exercises and see what works best for you.

Keep experimenting and stay wild-hearted!
