#022 – Revisiting and Refining Past Projects

11/16/2024

The Saturday Wild-Hearted Creative Weekly is brought to you by:

One of my favorite tools that I use in my business, MemberVault, just released an amazing new plan…and not only is it just $99…it’s a LIFETIME plan.

Hey there,

Do you have time time to look at some past projects or do you just ignore them? Sometimes looking back can help you move forward with greater insight and creativity.

This means taking a fresh look at your previous work can reveal new possibilities and areas for improvement. It also gives you the space to apply your current skills and insights, transforming them into something even better.

Inspiration Corner: Often I will have an art piece that I set aside for a bit to look at again with some fresh eyes to see what needs improving and if I don’t like it, I have my partner plane it down and start from over. But there is some value in revisiting old sketchbooks and unfinished projects that can spark some new inspiration. There was one piece, however, that I knew could be improved by simply changing the background which paved the way for my current style of pyrography.

Creative Challenge: Pick an old project to revisit and enhance. Here’s how:

  • Choose a Project: Select a piece of work that you haven’t looked at in a while.
  • Reflect: Think about why you abandoned it and what you can do differently now.
  • Refine: Apply your current skills and insights to improve and expand the project.
  • Complete: Finish the project with your new vision and techniques.

Resource Recommendation: Read articles on the benefits of revisiting and refining creative work. Websites like CreativeBloq and Medium offer tips on how to approach past projects with a fresh perspective. Additionally, books like “Art & Fear” by David Bayles and Ted Orland discuss the importance of revisiting and persevering in creative endeavors.

Revisiting and refining past projects can uncover hidden gems and highlight your growth as a creative. Embrace the opportunity to improve your work and see it through a new lens. Stay wild-hearted and keep evolving on your creative journey!

Stay wild-hearted!

Cheers,

Petra
