Hey there,

Have you incorporated play into your creative process? It can feel a bit odd as an adult to do so since we are taught to you know, be adults. But having a playful attitude can spark new ideas and keep your creativity fresh!

Allowing yourself to play can lead to unexpected discoveries and new ideas. Approach your creative work with a sense of fun and curiosity. Play can take many forms, such as experimenting with new materials, trying out different techniques, or simply creating without a specific goal in mind.

Inspiration Corner: Even though I am a pyrography artist first, I sometimes play with paint and allow myself to just let go of the pressure to create a finished product. Similar to hiking in the woods, using paint allows me to play around with ideas and see where they might lead me. It also allows me to embrace my inner child and just have a good time with color and paintbrush.

Creative Challenge: Spend time playing with new ideas or mediums. Here’s how:

• Set Aside Time: Dedicate a specific time each week to play and experiment.
• Choose Playful Activities: Try new materials, mix different techniques, or create something whimsical and fun.
• No Pressure: Remember, the goal is to enjoy the process, not to produce a perfect piece.
• Reflect: After your play session, reflect on what you discovered and how you felt.

Resource Recommendation: Read books on the importance of play in creativity. “The Playful Path” by Bernard De Koven and “Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul” by Stuart Brown offer insights into how play can enhance creativity and overall well-being.
