Hey there hi, do you feel like we talk about mindset too often? Or perhaps not enough? It’s one of the topics that is in a constant rotation of conversation but rightly so. Having a mindset that encourages you to take risks, with a willingness to learn from mistakes and push through challenges will get you to where you want to go.

Giving my journey of overcoming some challenging times in my life, on the surface I know I can conquer pretty much anything. However, those same challenging times have the underlying notion that it’s not safe, or smart, or the right move. I’ve muddled through a lot hanging on by a thread at times to get to where I am today. There are more days than not where I felt discouraged by setbacks, lack of progress, and failures. And yet, all of those moments are the reason I get to do the work I do today. Sometimes it is a shift in perspective that helps you keep going.

Creative Challenge: Practice positive self-talk and growth mindset exercises. Here’s how:

  1. Identify Limiting Beliefs: Write down any negative beliefs you have about your creative abilities.
  2. Reframe Them: Transform these negative statements into positive ones. For example, change “I’m not good at this” to “I’m learning and improving every day.”
  3. Set Learning Goals: Instead of focusing solely on outcomes, set goals related to the skills and knowledge you want to gain.
  4. Reflect on Progress: Regularly reflect on what you’ve learned and how you’ve grown, rather than just the end results.

Resource Recommendation: Read “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck. This book explores the concept of a growth mindset and provides practical strategies for developing it in all areas of life, including creativity.

A growth mindset empowers you to see challenges as opportunities and to persist in the face of obstacles. Embrace this mindset, and watch your creativity flourish.
